City Art Gallery

The newest installation at the City Art Gallery is Yvonne McGrath’s "Fantasy Flowers". McGrath's vivacious flowers have also been featured at Benko Art Gallery, including the Tahoe Arts Alliance Awards Nominated 2018 Tahoe Pride Art Show. Each one of her flowers takes on a life of its own. McGrath describes the process as "an emotional response” to the flower as it emerges, and she allows each to express its own personality, explaining, "they are like people." See for yourself how each one reveals itself to the viewer though its hue, shape, and surroundings. You can view Yvonne McGrath’s "Fantasy Flowers" during normal business hours at the City Art Gallery, South Lake Tahoe Airport, 1901 Airport Road, South Lake Tahoe. Check out more of McGrath’ s work online at YesGallery.net.

Tahoe Wellness Community Center

All you need to do to see how Art and Wellness are connected is to stop by the Tahoe Wellness Cooperative Community Center. TWC's Community Center is located at 3445 Lake Tahoe Blvd in South Lake Tahoe. A visit now will get you a look at the latest work by KAPS. KAPS is known for his street-inspired, eye-popping, color graphics, paintings, and mixed media. KAPS joined the High Vibe Society Artisan Collective when it opened and hasn’t stopped creating and showing work since. If there is no docent in the community center, please stop at the front desk of the Tahoe Wellness Center and an employee will assist you. You do not need a membership to visit the community center. This exhibit is free and open to the public, and the art is for sale.

Did you know that there are pop-up podcasts from the archives of the Lake Tahoe Art Scene available on TahoeArtsAlliance.org? Yours truly is rotating some of these classic episodes hosted by local art icon Robert Schimmel. Right now you can listen to Tahoe WordWave's Jennifer Sander, Tahoe Mountain Lab (now Cowork Tahoe) Co-founders David and Jamie Orr, Sculpture and Jewelry Artist Jennifer Trask, and members of the founding board of directors discuss Beginnings of the Tahoe Arts Alliance. Look for additional archived podcasts to be posted later in April at https://tahoeartsalliance.org/media-gallery/. Want to hear some new artist podcasts? Get in touch with the Tahoe Arts Alliance at info@tahoeartsalliance.org. I hear they are looking to start a new series!
