Evan Jacobson is a ceramic artist based in South Lake Tahoe. Born and raised in Truckee, California, Evan enjoyed the seasons like most of us here by skiing and hiking, but he also found happiness whenever he created with clay. Working in clay is Evan’s piece of the "sublime pie" - blending the colors, textures, and vitality of the Lake Tahoe Basin into something that endures. "I can look at that spinning wheel of mud and know I can turn it into something unique, something that can be cherished long after I am gone. It is this dynamic that inspires me to create."
Evan Jacobson creates a wide variety of ceramics - from earthenware that echoes the Tahoe terrain to ornamental glazed raku that shimmers like Lake Tahoe itself. In Evan’s work, you will see how clay is a unifying art form, used in cultures the world over and across time dating back to prehistory. Evan Jacobson’s unique fusion of styles in ceramic honors the past and brings it to the present, reminding us that no matter when or where we are, we are all one.

Bring your entire tribe to High Vibe Society for Tahoe Activist Artists "Rising from the Fire". Proceeds from art sales will benefit The Latino Community Foundation who are directly assiting migrant workers who lost everything in the wildfires. Please consider supporting The Latino Community Foundation to help those who process your food yet cannot apply for federal assistance due to fear of deportation.
The Tahoe Activist Artists brought the community together in a show of artistic force at Tahoe Mountain Lab this past September for their "We The People" event. Their momentum grew and they began plans for a new event at High Vibe Society. They named the event "Rising from the Fire" in remembrance of Guy Fawkes, who is said to be, "the last man to enter Parliament with honest intentions." Fawkes was a revolutionary who planned "The Gunpowder Plot" in 1605, hoping to blow up the House of Lords.
The Tahoe Activist Artists had no way of knowing that less than a week after the show was named "Rising from the Fire", the entire California community would be coming together to do just that. And with that, the efforts have focused on raising funds for the wildfire victims.
You can help with this effort by coming together in community on November 5th. This event is free and open to the public.
Our mission is to promote the continuted growth of the vibrant Lake Tahoe artist and maker scene.
